Equine Assisted Learning and PTSD/mental health unmounted programmes

EquiPotential New Zealand offers a range of Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) programmes designed to enhance wellbeing and support mental health.

These programmes provide clients with the opportunity to engage meaningfully with our horses through activities such as grooming, feeding, and leading. Research and experience show that these interactions can help reduce anxiety, regulate emotions, build self-confidence, and foster a sense of responsibility. Programmes also incorporate problem-solving, social interaction, and trust-building exercises with the horses, creating a safe and engaging environment for personal growth.

Devon is currently the only practitioner in New Zealand to hold a certification in Equine-Assisted Services and PTSD. She brings a gentle, down-to-earth, and non-judgemental approach, helping clients feel supported, at ease, and empowered in their healing journey.

Our EAL and PTSD/mental health-focused unmounted programmes run Monday to Friday and are available in both individual and group settings, tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of each client.

While our programmes provide meaningful wellbeing and mental health support, EquiPotential New Zealand does not currently offer services under the Accident Compensation Corporation Sensitive Claims contract, as our services are not delivered by registered therapists. Our programmes are designed to complement rather than replace clinical or therapeutic services where these may be required.
