Equine-assisted Services
For more than 5,000 years, humans have shared a profound and enduring bond with horses. Across cultures and continents, this partnership is reflected in art, literature, and history. What began as a relationship centred on transport and labour has evolved into one of companionship, connection, and therapeutic support.

Horses are uniquely attuned animals. As herd-oriented beings, they are highly responsive to social interaction and non-verbal communication. They offer immediate, honest feedback, remain free of judgement, and possess a remarkable ability to sense and respond to human emotion. This sensitivity creates powerful opportunities for growth, learning, and self-awareness.

Equine-Assisted Services encompass a range of evidence-informed programmes shown internationally to support overall wellbeing, enhance mental health, strengthen emotional regulation, and improve physical outcomes.
At EquiPotential New Zealand, our programmes intentionally harness these benefits to support individuals and communities across Aotearoa.

Clients are supported within a calm, respectful, and professionally facilitated environment by qualified coaches, an equine coordinator, and trained volunteers — ensuring both physical and emotional safety throughout their journey with us.
